A dump truck plowed into a home in Woodbury Heights, New Jersey on Tuesday afternoon after the driver suffered a medical emergency behind the wheel. The crash caused catastrophic damage to the residence, with the truck ending up in the basement of the collapsed structure. The homeowner sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.
Emergency crews worked for more than two hours to rescue the truck driver, who remained conscious throughout the ordeal. The incident occurred around 1:40 p.m. at a residence on the corner of Stratford Avenue and Woodbury-Glassboro Road, according to 6ABC.

Dashcam video obtained by local media shows the truck, fully loaded with sand, drifting across Woodbury-Glassboro Road at approximately 50 mph before striking a utility pole and continuing across several lawns. The vehicle then crashed directly into the two-story home without any signs of braking or evasive maneuvers.
Charles Zeisloft, owner of Zeisloft Trucking in West Deptford, confirmed the driver experienced what he described as a “Grand Mal” seizure behind the wheel. “If you are not a believer, man you better start believing now, because we’re living it,” Zeisloft told FOX 29, expressing relief that no one was killed in the incident.
The driver, identified by his employer only as “Timmy,” has reportedly worked for the company for over 25 years. Remarkably, he was able to call his boss while trapped in the wreckage, unaware of what had happened. “He wanted to tell me that he was in an accident. And that’s what he called me about. I said, ‘Timmy I’m already here,'” Zeisloft recounted.
Neighbor’s Heroic Actions
Derek Keating, a neighbor who lives next door to the damaged home, rushed to help the homeowner immediately after hearing the crash. Despite a potentially dangerous gas leak, Keating entered the collapsed structure to provide assistance before emergency responders arrived.
“I was able to make eye contact with him through a hole where the floor and well had separated, and I was able to talk to him for about 10 minutes until the paramedics got there,” Keating told 6ABC. “He was screaming for help and he wasn’t sure how bad he was hurt. I could see that he was bleeding and he was telling me he had some medical issues.”
In a remarkable coincidence, this was the first time Keating and his neighbor had ever spoken, despite living next door to each other for three years. When asked about his courageous actions, Keating simply stated, “What do you do in a situation? If you hear a guy screaming for help, and you think you could possibly help him. What are you not going to do something? I guess I did what I had to do to help him.”

The crash prompted a significant emergency response, with approximately 75-100 first responders arriving at the scene. Officials confirmed that a neighboring home was evacuated as a safety precaution due to concerns about the structural integrity of the damaged residence and a gas leak.
Samantha Burke, another nearby resident, witnessed the crash while holding her baby. “I heard a loud crash. It sounded like a normal truck going over a speed bump and I saw him smash into the house,” she told FOX 29.
Gloucester County Emergency Response Chief Andrew Halter coordinated the complex rescue operation, which required specialized equipment and careful planning to safely extract both the homeowner and truck driver from the severely damaged structure.

By Tuesday evening, crews had successfully removed the dump truck from the ruins of the home. The residence suffered such extensive structural damage that demolition crews were called in to take down what remained of the house after the truck was extracted.
According to the homeowner’s brother, who spoke with CBS Philadelphia, the victim was sitting in his favorite lounging chair when the truck crashed through the house, knocking him through two walls. Despite this traumatic experience, the homeowner is reportedly “doing physically OK” and continues to recover at the hospital, according to recent updates.
The crash remains under investigation by local authorities, though all evidence points to a medical emergency as the cause. Woodbury-Glassboro Road was temporarily closed between Elm Avenue and Chestnut Avenue following the incident.
