The Devastating Impact
Swiderski was traveling westbound on Route 37 when his motorcycle collided with a car heading southbound on Colonial Drive. The violent impact caused his motorcycle to erupt into flames and threw him more than 140 feet from the point of collision.
The driver of the car was also transported to the hospital but sustained non-life-threatening injuries. As of now, no charges have been filed in connection with the incident, which remains under active investigation by local authorities.
A Hometown Hero’s Legacy
The Brick Township community is reeling from the loss of Swiderski, who graduated from Brick Township High School in 2019 before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. The school’s hockey team shared the devastating news on social media, remembering him for his “smile and outgoing personality,” according to Daily Voice.
“It is with great sadness that we share the passing of one of our former players, Will Swiderski,” the team’s post read. “Will, class of 2019, tragically lost his life yesterday. Will was a multi-sport athlete at Brick Township, although he only played hockey for a short time, his smile and outgoing personality will always be remembered. Will also served in the United States Marine Corps after graduation. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and friends.”
Versatile Athlete Remembered
While hockey was part of his athletic career, Swiderski was also known for his contributions to the school’s lacrosse program. His versatility as a multi-sport athlete highlighted his dedication and athletic abilities during his time at Brick Township High School.
Former teammates and coaches remember Swiderski as a determined competitor who brought positive energy to every team he joined. His willingness to challenge himself across different sports demonstrated the same courage and commitment he later brought to his service in the Marine Corps.
Community in Mourning
The tragedy has sparked an outpouring of support for Swiderski’s family from both the Brick Township community and veterans’ groups throughout Ocean County. Former classmates, teammates, and fellow service members have been sharing memories and condolences on social media platforms since news of the accident broke.
As a young veteran who had returned to civilian life, Swiderski represented the commitment to service that runs deep in many New Jersey communities. His dual identity as both a hometown athlete and a U.S. Marine has made his loss particularly poignant for residents of Brick Township.

Investigation Continues
Ocean County officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. Authorities are examining factors such as speed, visibility, and traffic signal status at the time of the crash. The intersection of Route 37 and Colonial Drive has been the site of previous accidents, raising questions about traffic safety measures in the area.
Area residents have noted that the stretch of Route 37 where the accident occurred can be particularly hazardous due to high speeds and complex traffic patterns. Local officials have not yet indicated whether the accident might prompt a safety review of the intersection.
Funeral services for Swiderski have not yet been finalized. Family members are expected to announce arrangements in the coming days as the community prepares to honor the young veteran’s life and service.
